Department of Prostodontics
The Department was started in 1992 with the establishment of Farooqia Dental College and Hospital, Mysore.
The department offers graduate program (BDS) recognized by the Dental Council of India and three-year postgraduate program (MDS) approved by the Dental Council of India.
To provide health care service of the highest standard to the society by utilizing up to date research and technology.
To develop dental professionals of the best standard.
Prosthodontic treatment encompasses the esthetic and functional replacement of missing or malformed oro-facial structures. The various treatments offered are :
a) Removable prosthesis – partial or complete denture
b) Fixed prosthesis – Crowns, bridges, laminate- veneers and dental implants
c) Maxillofacial prosthesis – replacement of eye, ear, nose, finger, facial reconstruction, esthetic rehabilitation of patient after burn injury and maxillofacial trauma; and cleft lip-palate cases.
Department Lay out:
The department is well equipped with all ultra-modern hi-tech instruments and materials for treatment of patients using tooth as well as implant supported prosthesis. Maxillofacial prosthetic treatment is also done, in collaboration with the local oncology hospital.
Undergraduate clinical section comprises of 14 fully equipped electronic dental chairs and pre-clinical section has 40 phantom head tables for training students
Post graduate Preclinical section has 3 phantom head tables and post graduate clinic consists of 9 fully equipped electronic dental chairs as well as a separate implantology section for training MDS students
An extensive laboratory set up is available to complement the clinical work. There are different labs for undergraduates and postgraduates. The PG lab has separate divisions for a) ceramic b) metal and c) acrylic work
Department Library : Department has a compact library with over 30 specialty books, journals and seminars for references.

Advanced education in the subject of oral and maxillofacial prosthodontics and implantology for graduate dentists to pursue a career of specialization practice, teaching and research.
The postgraduate students are trained with highest standards of clinical and evidence based dentistry.

The department has sufficient faculty members who are dedicated in teaching underdraduate and postgraduate students as well as providing dental treatment.
